Huntsville, AL August 23, 2021 – Free 2 Teach, a free teacher supply store open to teachers across Madison County’s three public school systems, is pleased to announce a charitable contribution in the amount of $10,000 from partner Raytheon Technologies to support their efforts to increase supply and resource donations for children and teachers who need them most. With this level of support, Raytheon Technologies joins the Free 2 Teach Distinguished Partner team that includes area corporations that give significantly to the operations and purchasing needs of Free 2 Teach and are committed to the success of the organization over the long-term.

“Raytheon Technologies is proud to partner with Free 2 Teach to support local teachers. Teachers in Huntsville, Madison City, and Madison County are making a meaningful impact on our students by enriching their lives and strengthening our communities,” says Mitch Stevison, Vice President, Strategy and Development and Huntsville Senior Site Executive at Raytheon Missiles & Defense, a business unit of Raytheon Technologies. “We’re grateful for their dedication and for the opportunity to help them inspire the next generation of innovators.”

In addition to their financial commitment, the Huntsville area Raytheon Technologies team hosted a July supply drive for Free 2 Teach, accumulating $3,824 in supplies.

“We are extremely grateful for this significant donation and commitment from Raytheon Technologies,” says Alison Kling, Executive Director of Free 2 Teach. “Raytheon has been a great partner to Free 2 Teach for many years, and we are thrilled that they have taken this next step as Distinguished Partners. Just last week they had a team here organizing math kits and books. They get our mission, they see the value of equipping our educators and students, and they are excited to sustain our growth and partner with us to reach more children and teachers in our community.”

The support will ensure that Free 2 Teach can continue to carry out its mission of getting resources into the hands of public school children, while taking the burden off of teachers to purchase supplies. Teachers can shop throughout the year at the store and leave with an average of $577 in their carts. To date, the organization has given away over $8 million dollars throughout its ten year history.
